Chemical Engineering Study Program held a workshop and training on simulation process software to simplify completion of industrial process, known as the HYSYS Program.
Activity which was held at A4 classroom of Chemical Engineering started on March 14, 2016 ago and will be continued on 19 to 20 March 2016.
Explained by Event Chief Executive, Mohammad Fauzi Rizal, the training presents experts in their fields, Trainer Cognoscente & Process Engineer at British Petroleum Moch. Mada Indra H, Trainer Cognoscente & Process Engineer at PT. Mahakarya Andalan Nusantara Febriyan Nizfa S., and lecturer of Plant Design class, Rama Oktavian, ST., M.Sc.
According to Rizal, a 2014 student, the activity is very good and should be done by each department of Chemical Engineering because it provides students with more softskills.
“Chemical Engineering is mostly engaged in process and control process itself, so with this training graduates can find more provisions, mastering and being an expert in HYSYS software,” he said.
“We need such training very much to compete with high competence and increase competitiveness,” said student who once won the creative products of National Innovative Product Exhibition Contest (NAPEC).
Meanwhile, Rama Oktavian as one of speakers gives an insight to the participants related to the introduction of process simulator software, determining the properties of thermodynamics, estimation on using thermodynamic models in the process simulator software, application software in the calculations in the operating units of chemical engineering, and logical function in software.
“This software is essential for today in the industrial world, it use to design a process and perform troubleshooting. That is one of chemical engineering graduate competences and the software can help in accomplishing both things more quickly for calculation time efficiency,” said Rama, a lecturer who is also alumni of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.
Rama added that mastery of this software is one of the soft skills should be possessed by students when they plunged into professional world. By mastering this software, it can be an added value for students. [and/mic]
