Department of Statistics Discusses Business Data Analysis with Excel

The Department of Statistics, FMIPA Universitas Brawijaya (UB) successfully held the “Online Guest Lecture Series” #11 with the theme “Upgrading Practical Skills in Analyzing and Interpreting Business Data Using Excel”. This activity was held online via Zoom Meeting and was attended by 127 participants, consisting of students from the 2022 and 2023 batches of the Statistics Department (7/12/2024).

This event aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of developing practical skills in analyzing and interpreting business data using Excel. As a resource person, Dr. Charanjit Kaur, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics, Monash University, Australia, was present.

The event started at 08.30 WIB with the moderator Luthfatul Amaliana, S.Si., M.Si., and was officially opened by the Head of the Statistics Department, Rahma Fitriani, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. In her presentation, Dr. Charanjit Kaur packaged the material interactively, involving a survey of Excel usage by participants, as well as direct practice using the business datasets that had been provided. Participants were not only invited to understand the concept, but were also given the opportunity to practice independently.

This activity received high enthusiasm from students, as proven by the number of registrants reaching 181 people, with a total participation of 127 students. The discussion and question and answer sessions were active, and the participants expressed their appreciation for the organization of this event.

The students hope that the Statistics Department of FMIPA UB can continue to present the “Online Guest Lecture Series” with other interesting themes that support the development of their practical competencies.
