
Committee IV of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) held an Empirical Study activity in the context of preparing an academic text for the Draft Law on Regional Asset Management in collaboration with the Faculty of Law. This event was held in the Auditorium on the 6th floor of A Building, Faculty of Law, Brawijaya University, on Friday, February 16 2024.
The activity opened with remarks by Dra. Mesranian, M.Dev.Plg., as the Head of Trial Bureau II. In his speech, Dra. Mesranian conveyed the importance of collaboration between legislative institutions and academics in drafting regulations that are quality and relevant to the needs of society.
“Collaboration between legislative institutions and academics in drafting regulations is the key to creating quality policies that are in line with developments in science and technology. Through close collaboration, legislative institutions can access the latest knowledge and research from academics, while academics can understand the practical needs and policy contexts faced by legislative institutions. “As a result, the resulting regulations will be more relevant, effective, and able to support progress and justice in society,” said Mesranian.
The activity continued with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Brawijaya University, Dr. Aan Eko Widiarto, S.H., M.Hum, who also officially opened the event. The Dean said that synergistic collaboration between academics and legislative institutions will produce regulations that are more effective, accommodate the needs of society, and are able to respond better to changes and progress over time.
“As dean, I believe that involving academics in the regulatory drafting process will produce better quality and sustainable policies. Academics bring expertise and in-depth knowledge from research results and field experience, while legislative institutions bring a deep understanding of the needs and challenges faced by society,” said Aan.
Furthermore, this activity was filled with material presentation and discussion sessions initiated by three members of the Bill Expert Team, namely Ir. Yuswandi Arsyad Temenggung, M.A., M.Sc., Ph.D., Dr. Eko Subowo, and Drs. Pardiman, M.Sc. From the Faculty of Law, invited speakers also enriched the discussion, including Dr. Aan Eko Widiarto, S.H., M.Hum, Dr. Dewi Cahyandari, S.H., M.H., and Alfons Zakaria, S.H., LL.M., who discussed the topic of Regional Asset Management Regulations, Policy Analysis of Regional Asset Management Regulations, and also Crime in the Regional Asset Management Bill.
The discussion went smoothly, guided by Zora Febriena Dwithia H.P., S.H., M.Kn., one of the lecturers at the Faculty of Law, Brawijaya University as Moderator. Law Faculty lecturers who came as participants shared insights and views regarding efforts to improve regional asset management regulations in accordance with community needs and dynamics. This activity is a form of the DPR RI’s commitment to collaborating with stakeholders in drafting regulations that are progressive and oriented towards the interests of the people.
