Society Renewable Energy Universitas Brawijaya (SRE UB) and Apatte62 Brawijaya held a collaborative seminar at the 2nd Floor of the Faculty of Engineering Dean’s Auditorium on Saturday (15/03). This activity was packaged in the form of a collaborative seminar with the aim of presenting innovations and prospects in the field of new renewable energy. The event was opened to the public and attended by more than 100 participants.
SRE UB and Apatte62 Brawijaya are each student communities at UB. SRE UB is a forum for students who are activists in new renewable energy, with many work programs related to the development of new renewable energy infrastructure in partner villages. Meanwhile, Apatte62 Brawijaya is a research team under the auspices of the Himpunan Mesin Research Laboratory, which is engaged in the field of energy-efficient car innovation, with a myriad of achievements that have been recognized nationally and internationally.
This activity includes two main events, namely the presentation of SRE Solar Learning and an exhibition of energy-efficient innovation cars from Apatte62 Brawijaya which have won the international competition Shell Eco-Marathon Asia Pacific Middle East 2025. The participants were divided into two sessions to watch the presentations alternately.
Director of Education SRE UB Achmad Zain Nur Rahman said that SRE Solar Learning is a learning board about solar panels. SRE Solar Learning was created as a learning medium related to new renewable energy.

“The main objective of SRE Solar Learning is as an interactive and applicable learning board for junior high and high school students in Malang City. The target is to hold SRE Mengajar as a concept of community service for our department,” said Zain who is also the supervisor of this project.
Interestingly, SRE Solar Learning was designed in a relatively short time, from early February to mid-March. The design was completed under the SRE UB education research team consisting of Siti Nurhaliza (2022) as manager, and four associates, namely, Dzakiyah Khairunisa (2024), Fajar Fadhilah (2022), Gibran Yodha Permana Citra (2022), and Raihan Bhagaskara (2024).
“This board is designed so that solar energy can be converted into electricity, besides that it is also equipped with IoT technology to monitor the performance of solar panels in real-time,” said Dzakiyah in her presentation.
In addition, PIC Apatte62 Brawijaya Ibrahim revealed that there were two types of cars exhibited at this event. For the urban category car with the urban ethanol type, it is named Marsela Ethanol, while the prototype category car with the diesel prototype type is named Nogososro.

“The advantage of the car we designed is in the car body, which uses carbon fiber, so that the weight of the car can be more optimal. In addition, our reliable team also designed this car to be as fuel efficient as possible,” he said.
The fuel efficiency of the car designed by Apatte62 Brawijaya reaches a speed of 652.9 km/liter for the diesel prototype and a speed of 289.72 km/liter, making it super fuel efficient. This is not just any claim, because both cars have been recognized through their championship achievements, especially in the Energy Efficient Car Contest (KMHE).
Ibrahim said that the Apatte62 Brawijaya team always upholds the motto “life that is not risked will not be won”. That is what motivates the team to win in every competition.
“For the history of champions, our urban ethanol car was the 3rd winner of KMHE in 2023. Meanwhile, for the diesel prototype, we became the 1st winner in a row from 2019 to 2024,” he explained.
At the end of the event, a question and answer session was opened. Various questions were given, especially related to the innovations presented. In closing, the Head of the Event Committee, Benny Andreas expressed his gratitude and thanks for the smooth running of the event.
“We hope that participants will gain experience and knowledge related to innovations and developments in new renewable energy. We are happy that this event went according to expectations, the enthusiasm of the participants was quite high,” he concluded. [FIM/Irene/UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
