
The third and final day of the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) Universitas Brawijaya for the 2024/2025 Academic Year or better known as Raja Brawijaya 2024, began with a presentation on innovation development by the Director of the Directorate of Innovation and Science & Technology Area (DIKST), Mohammad Iqbal, S.Sos., M.IB., DBA. on Wednesday (08/14/2024) at Samantha Krida.
In his presentation, Mohammad Iqbal emphasized Universitas Brawijaya’s commitment to becoming one of the leading universities in the world, with a target of entering the top 500 globally. Indonesia’s competitive level is said to be not far behind other countries, but there are several things which still becomes challenges “Universitas Brawijaya has a strategic vision, namely to be a pioneer and innovator in science and technology in supporting culture-based industries for community welfare, as well as contributing to the development of food security, technological sovereignty, and strengthening community welfare,” explained Iqbal.
“UB has 3-4 superior focuses related to clustering research and innovation, which include community-based industry, agro-tech industry, health and medical technology, and engineering science.” added Iqbal.

The next session was filled by Karuniawan emphasizing the importance of student adaptation to the dynamics of the world of work. “UB students are Z generation, which is the greatest potential for future workers in Indonesia’s demographic conditions,” he said.
Karuniawan also raised issues that are often concerned by UB alumni in the world of work, such as lack of connections or experience, low self-confidence, and challenges in communicating and negotiating. He reminded students to work hard and not expect instant results. “The young generation is the future heir to the golden generation of 2045, It takes bleed, it takes muscles, it takes struggle to achieve success, no one takes it for granted.
