The A contingent of sepak takraw Indonesia had to recognize the superiority of the Myanmar team after going through a fierce battle with a score of 1-2 (15-05, 13-15, 16-17) in the final round of the double events. Myanmar advanced to the final after surprisingly beating Thailand A in the semifinals at the 2024 ASEAN University Games at Pertamina Sport Center, Universitas Brawjaya, Thursday (4/7/2024).

The final match, which was fierce not only between the players but also the fans, was stopped by the referee to warn the Myanmar player, Aing Aung, not to express provocative attitudes.

However, Indonesia still had to feel defeat after Myanmar failed to capture several attacks properly. Even though the collaboration between Rusdi and Anwar B tried to restore the situation, the match ended with a difference of 1 point.

The Indonesian B team also had to feel defeat in the race for third place in the same number after being forced by Thailand to play 3 sets (15-17, 17-15, 15-10). Thailand, which since the second half seemed to always be ahead in scoring, turned things around. They strengthened their attacks by substituting Nattapon Kotehapaksri for Jatuporn Taluengjit.

As conveyed by the LO of Sepak Takraw Coordinator, Daniel Sulthon Zanjabil Esfandiary, after this double events number match, the match continued with the next number, namely the team event. The final will be held tomorrow. [sitirahma/ UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
