The Postgraduate School of Universitas Brawijaya (SPUB) successfully held the 17th International Interdisciplinary Studies Seminar (IISS). The activity was held in A Building, UB Postgraduate School on Saturday (11/30) with the theme “Building a Sustainable Environmental, Social, and Economic Future in the Era of Artificial Intelligence (AI)”.
The seminar was opened by Prof. Andi Kurniawan, S.Pi., M.Eng., D.Sc. as the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Internationalization. In his remarks, Andi said that this seminar was a manifestation of Universitas Brawijaya’s commitment to contribute to the global dialogue on sustainability and Artificial Intelligence.
“Our academic community has an important role in encouraging interdisciplinary research, generating innovative solutions, and educating the next generation of leaders who will navigate the complexities of this new era,” said Andi.
Plenary Session II presented keynote speaker Rear Admiral TNI, Dr. Yoos Suryono Hadi, M.Tr.(Han)., M.Tr.Opsla., CHRMP who explained the importance of maritime resilience and security through strengthening sovereignty and sustainability in the era of Artificial Intelligence. The second material was delivered by Apichart Wongkham from the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperative, Thailand who explained the current problems in land assessment and the possibility of implementing Artificial Intelligence in the future. The enthusiasm of the seminar participants was shown by the many questions directed to the keynote speakers.
The seminar continued with a Parallel Session which was divided into four classrooms. As the peak of the event, the chairman of the seminar committee, Ir. Bambang Semedi, M.Sc., Ph.D. announced the winners of Best Presenter and Best Participant. This announcement is expected to increase the enthusiasm of students to contribute through work and innovation.
This international seminar was closed by Prof. Dr. Moh. Khusaini, S.E., M.Sc., M.A. as the director of SPUB. He expressed his hope that this seminar would be useful and provide inspiration in efforts to build a sustainable environmental, social, and economic future in the era of Artificial Intelligence.
