Nine faculties at University of Brawijaya join in to enliven National Olympiad of Science (Olimpiade Nasional Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam/ONMIPA) 2016. The nine are Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Veterinary Program and Faculty of Computer Sciences. The event that hold on Saturday (27/Feb/2016) followed by around 239 UB students.
In his opening remarks, Head of Convener, Darjito, S.Si., M.Si mentioned, at recent ON MIPA competition, the highest participant is in biology subject around 100 participants with stringency number 1:14, mathematics around 48 students with tightness number 1:17, chemistry with 47 students with tightness number 1:7 and Physics around 44 numbers with stringency number 1:6.
Selection at university level will choose seven representatives who will go forward in regional level. 64 students would be selected in regional level. Meanwhile in international level will choose around 25 students. ON MIPA implementation in national level would be executed on May 2016. Each of field nationally will grab three gold medals, five silver medals, seven bronze medals and five honorable mention of special award.
Meanwhile, Vice rector III on Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Ir. Arief Prajitno, MS mentioned that students’ achievement is college’s spearhead.
