A different atmosphere colored the Selection of Candidates for Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) for the 2025-2030 Period held on Thursday (4/17/2025) in Room 2.1A Building A, FCS UB. The selection committee appeared lively in this activity, wearing traditional Indonesian clothing, such as Kebaya and Lurik.

The election, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., was a significant moment in determining the new faculty leaders and a place to emphasize the identity of Indonesia’s rich and diverse culture.

The committee’s wear of traditional clothing added a solemn and lively feel to the election activities. By wearing Kebaya, Lurik, and other cultural attributes, the committee showed FCS UB’s commitment to keeping cultural values alive, even in implementing formal academic activities.

The cheerfulness and enthusiasm of the committee radiated from every session, both when assisting with voter registration process, maintaining the voting process, and overseeing the vote-counting stage. Traditional clothing is a potent symbol that cultural values remain relevant and essential in every aspect of campus life.

The committee coordinator said that wearing traditional clothing in this activity was not just to beautify the event, but also a real form of respect for local culture.

“We want to show that culture is learned, lived, and celebrated together. This is our simple way to strengthen the identity of FCS UB,” said one of the organizers.

The traditional dress code also received appreciation from the election participants and the academic community in attendance. Many captured this moment in photos of togetherness, showing the spirit of solidarity during the campus democratic process.

As scheduled, voting activities were carried out offline for most voters, and e-voting to facilitate voters out of town or abroad.
