Energy Efficient Car Team of Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT-UB) Apatte 62 Brawijaya, will bring the alma mater at the prestigious competition, Shell Eco Marathon Asia (SEM) in 2016, which will be held in Manila, Philippines, 3-6 March 2016.
Apatte 62 Brawijaya Team formally sent off on the 6th floor of UB’s rector building, yesterday (25/Feb/2016). Present to support the team were, the Vice Rector III of UB Prof. Dr. Ir. Arief Prajitno, MS., Vice Dean for Student Affairs FT-UB Dr. Slamet Wahyudi, ST., MT., Head of UB Student Affair Unit Endang Susiloningsih, S. Sos, M.AB, and Head of Sub Division of Reasoning UB Wahyu Achmad Supriadi, S.Sos.
In the competition, followed by 100 teams from 15 countries, the UB delegation consists of Saifullah, Sa’roni, Rafdhika Ramadhani, Haryo Ridhonoto M., Oktavianus, Muhammad Naufal Aditya Fahmi, Naufal Dary Yulian, Alfian Ringga Nugroho, Arel Manta Tarigan, M. Abiyyu Arib Surya, and Muhammad Rughby.
The team that carries jargon “No Work before Safety” during research was accompanied by two lecturers, Dr.Eng. Eko Siswanto, ST, MT and Dr.Eng. Denny Widhyanuriyawan, ST, MT.
According to team member Saifullah, to always take care of health and safety in completing the project in addition to reaching the efficiency target of this electric car being the concern of the team
“Probably most people consider it trivial, complicated, waste of time, slowing the work down, and so on. Actually, safety is the main factor to make everything work neatly. Let’s priorities and develop safety culture,” said this student of class 2012.
In facing SEM 2016, the Apatte 62 Brawijaya team already made some modifications after the The Energy Efficient Car Contest 2015 some time ago. They focused on the development of microcontroller devices and transmission.
“We are working on the development of the efficiency of the best gear ratio based on the experience of KMHE years ago,” said another team member, Haryo Ridhonoto M.
Meanwhile, Vice Rector III Arief Prajitno targeting Appatte Team 62 Brawijaya can achieve maximum results in this annual prestigious competition. Lecturer at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences is hoping the team can at least achieve better results than last year.
“Last year we could reach rank 5. If you could increase even more minimal three or even if you can be a champion,” the message. (and/mic)
