17 Students of The University of Queensland Participating in Inbound Program at Communication Science UB

A total of 17 students from The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia participated in the inbound program at the Department of Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya (UB). This program took place on (18/11-19/11/2024) and was the second to be held this year.

Head of UB Communication Science Department, Prof. Rachmat Kriyantono Ph.D S.Sos., M.Si said that this program was a form of implementation of strategic cooperation between UB and UQ.

“In addition to supporting the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (IKU), this program also aims to strengthen cultural relations between Indonesia and Australia,” he explained, Tuesday (19/11/2024).

The man who is familiarly called RK revealed that the cooperation between UB and UQ has been intensive, starting with direct initiation by the UQ team who visited FISIP several times, including a visit by the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Humanities UQ.

“UQ itself is a university that places the top 100 rank in the world according to the QS World University Rankings,” he explained.

In addition to the student inbound program, several collaborations between UB and UQ also include various strategic activities involving Communication Science lecturers such as the visit of the Lecturer Works of Undergraduate Study Program to UQ to strengthen academic networks.

“The Visiting Professor program with a Communication Science lecturer named Fitri who teaches at UQ and Associate Prof Elske van de Fliert teaches at UB’s Communication Science,” he said.

There is also a Visiting Researcher program where UB’s Communication Science lecturers conduct research at UQ with support from LPDP and LPPM UB through an overseas competition research scheme.

“Joint research between UB Communication Science lecturer team and UQ that studies digital transactions in Pujon and Banyuwangi areas,” he explained.

Prof. RK added that UB and UQ Communication Science Department also published a Book Chapter, the result of collaboration between UB Communication Science lecturer team and academics from UQ.

“Through these various collaborations, UB and UQ are committed to continuing to expand the scope of academic cooperation, both in research, teaching, and cultural development,” he said.
