One Decade, Reyog Brawijaya Produces Five IPRs

As an educational institution, Universitas Brawijaya does not only prioritize academic abilities, but also develops talent interests, especially in the field of regional arts. One of the achievements achieved by UB in this field is the success of getting 5 Intellectual Property Rights, in this case it was won by the Musical and Dance Activity Unit with Reyog Brawijjaya.

Vice Rector for Student Affairs when handing over the IPR certificate to the Rector

Marking a decade as well as welcoming the XII year lustrum, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs Universitas Brawijaya handed over five IPRs certificates to the Rector. This handover was carried out on the sidelines of the Healthy Walk activity, last Sunday (18/12/2022) in the Rectorate Field.

The management of IPR is led by Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Denny Widhiyanuriyawan, S.T., M.T. According to Denny, this process begins with the thoughts of students and lecturers who care about the legality of works. “Universitas Brawijaya gets 5 Intellectual Property Rights including Brawijaya Reyog Dance, Brawijaya Reyog Music, Brawijaya Ballet, Brawijaya Ballet Music and Brawijaya Ballet Books, and this IPR is valid from 25 February 2022 to the next 70 years,” said Denny.

Reyog Brawijaya

There is a difference between Reyog Brawijaya and the appearance of reog in general. According to Muhammad Bayu Aji Pradana, a member of Reyog Brawijaya, the difference lies in the stories presented. “Reyog Brawijaya carries the theme Klana Candra Kirana, so that with this theme as the basis, the nuances of dance and music productions can be processed in harmony with the existing theme,” explained the student of the Faculty of Law.

Reyog Brawijaya dance and music is the development of dance music based on the background of the Banrangin kingdom. Where the elements of work and soldiering which are still very strong are adopted in this dance and music.

The management process too, added Bayu, was quite short. “This process began on November 13, 2021 for the collection of IPR application files. The team itself consists of Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Denny Widhiyanuriyawan, S.T., M.T. and Arif Zainudin, S.H., M.H., along with 35 members of UNITANTRI, we are also assisted by the Directorate of Innovation and Business Incubator for submissions to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights until finally, last February 25, it was confirmed that Klana Candra Kirana belongs to UB,” he concluded.
