The increasing number of mental health cases has become a concern for the government, one of which is the passing of one of the Draft Laws, namely regarding Psychological Education and Services into law. This law contains certainty about the stages of psychological education and the provision of legal protection for psychologists, clients and the community.

Rizky Austin Lukman, the best graduate of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, raised the theme “Policy Advocacy for the Psychological Education and Services Bill (PLP Bill) by Hetijah Saifudin as Chair of the PLP Bill Working Committee”. He conducted research in conjunction with participating in the MSIB (Certified Independent Internship and Study) program at the Indonesian House of Representatives in Commission X.

“This is important because mental health in Indonesia needs serious attention. Well, the PLP Bill is here as a response to the need to improve psychological well-being, he said. However, the drafting of this bill has experienced quite a lot of resistance from various parties. Therefore, policy advocacy is needed to reach a consensus.

Rizky is a graduate of the Government Science study program. He took this path through the UTBK (Computer-Based Written Examination) test even though he was accepted at IPB through a regional delegation from East Kalimantan. He passed at IPB and received a full scholarship starting from tuition fees, accommodation, to living expenses. “Of course this is a very attractive and profitable offer. However, I feel that my passion is not in IPB Industrial Technology,” he said.

He did not waste his opportunity to become UB student. He often took part in debate competitions. The highest award received was a silver medal as the best speaker at the 2023 KDMI Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.

His achievements made it easy for him to get a TELADAN scholarship from the Tanoto Foundation. The reason he always tried to get a scholarship was not to be burden his mother who was the backbone of the family after his father died while he was in high school.

Rizky is the best graduate of FISIP who graduated with a GPA of 3.97 and a study period of 3 years and 2 months. [sitirahma/ UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
