Reyog Brawijaya Wins General Champion of FNRP 2023

The Handover of President Cup to Reyog Brawijaya’s Coach

Reyog Brawijaya again won 1st place and won the President’s Cup at the 2023 Reog Ponorogo National Festival (FNRP) which was held in Ponorogo (18/7/2023). This activity was held again, within the framework of Grebeg Suro, after previously being absent during the pandemic.

This year, Reyog Brawijaya assigns 113 personnel, consisting of 2 choreographers, 1 composer, 22 Jathil dancers, 20 Warok dancers, 7 Dadak Merak dancers, 2 Warok Tua dancers, 2 Bujang Ganong dancers, 1 Klono Sewandono dancer, 17 vocals, 19 Senggak and 20 production team members who are students from various faculties.

Besides being the General Champion, Reyog Brawijaya also brings the title of best dance artist and best music accompaniment artist. This award succeeded in defending the 2023 Reyog Ponorogo National Festival President Cup at Universitas Brawijaya.

The award was given directly by the Regent of Ponorogo, Sugiri Sancoko, SE., MM and was accepted by Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Denny Widhiyanuriyawan, ST., MT., IPM as the coach of Reyog Brawijaya.

This year, Reyog Brawijaya carries the theme Hasta Brata. Team preparations have been made since the beginning of the year. “The dance work has been in progress since February 2023, and all categories were successfully brought home, repeating the success of 2017. The key to the success of the team is sincerity, cohesiveness, and the cooperation of Reyog Brawiaya extended family,” said Denny.

In addition to 2023, Reyog Brawijaya has also been the general champion in previous periods, such as in the 2013 Reog Ponorogo National Festival, 7th place, 2015 2nd place, 2016 2nd place, 1st place in 2017, 2018 1st place, 1st place in 2019, and 1st place in 2023 as well as the fourth general champion.
