Rector of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Med.Sc., attended the Soft Launching Ceremony of ASEAN-China Center of Excellence, which is part of the International Conference on ASEAN-CHINA TVET Development. This event took place at the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Preanger Hotel, Bandung, West Java on Wednesday (4/12/2024).
This event was initiated by the ASEAN-China Center (ACC) to strengthen cooperation in the field of Vocational Education (Technical Vocational Education and Training or TVET) among ASEAN countries and China, which was attended by the Secretary General of ACC, H.E. Shi Zhongjun, as well as delegations of vocational education institutions, the business world, and industry from China and Indonesia.
UB is one of the strategic partners in the ASEAN-China Center of Excellence with a focus on the development of traditional medicine. In this collaboration, UB will develop research and scientific publications in the field of traditional medicine based on natural ingredients, as well as collaborate with the business world and industry to support innovation and preservation of traditional health sciences.
In addition to Universitas Brawijaya, other campuses which also involved in this program with their respective specializations, including Universitas Gadjah Mada in Vocational Education Development (TVET Development), Universitas Indonesia for Social Policy and Community Resilience, IPB University in Agriculture and Universitas Hasanuddin for Metallurgy and Marine Resources.
This event included a panel discussion and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between vocational education institutions and the business world, ending with the official soft launching of the ASEAN-China Center of Excellence. “This collaboration is expected to support the strengthening of vocational education, technological innovation, and global collaboration that is beneficial for the education and industry sectors in the ASEAN and China regions. “UB’s presence at this event shows Universitas Brawijaya’s commitment to support the development of traditional medicine as part of an effort to become a national and regional center of excellence,” said Widodo.
