UB Releases the 2024 Brawijaya Mega Expedition Participants to Community Service in East Nusa Tenggara

Student Executive of Universitas Brawijaya (EM UB) once again holds annual Brawijaya Mega Expedition activity with this year’s destination being East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The series of releases and briefings for participants of Brawijaya Mega Expedition were held on Friday (20/09/2024), starting at 08.30 to 11.00 WIB, on the 6th Floor of UB Rectorate Building.

The activity was attended by Dr. Setiawan Noerdajasakti, S.H., M.H. as Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Entrepreneurship; Zaki Alif Ramadhani, S.Par., M.Par. as Field Supervisor; Dimas Aldi Pratama, representative of Fornassosmas from UPN Yogyakarta; and student participants of Mega Expedition from UB, Semarang State University (UNNES), and UPN Yogyakarta.

The event began with a dance performance from the Gendhis Student Activity Unit (UKM) and continued with remarks from officials and representatives. The symbolic beating of the gong became the official marker for the release of the expedition participants. This Brawijaya Mega Expedition will take place from 20 to 30 September 2024 in Eban Village, NTT. This activity involves various fields of service, such as education and technology, health, as well as tourism and the creative economy.

The 2024 Brawijaya Mega Expedition also collaborates with the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia; the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (EKRAF); the Ministry of Health; and the Ministry of Villages. A total of 8 UB students, 2 UNNES students, and 1 representative from various other universities such as IPB, Mulawarman University, Tidar University, UNSRI, Bengkulu University, and 15 students from Timor University were involved in this activity.

The chief executive, Ahmad Hanif Muntahal Fahmi, expressed his hope that this activity would run smoothly with the support and prayers of lecturers, the rectorate, and all students. “We as the first host with the second host in NTT would like to thank the participants who have been willing to take part in the Mega Expedition, as well as our sponsor, Bank Indonesia. We hope for praying from Mr. Sakti and all Brawijaya friends so that this activity runs smoothly,” said Ahmad.

In his speech, Dr. Setiawan Noerdajasakti appreciated the enthusiasm of the students involved in this expedition.

“I followed the developments that friends followed which it turned out that EM UB and its team were holding this Mega Expedition. I am sure this activity will bring extraordinary benefits and train the soft skills of all my fellow students,” he said.

Dimas Aldi Pratama from Fornassosmas also emphasized the importance of maintaining harmony and respecting diversity during the activity.

“We take care of each other in the field, take care of ourselves, take care of our health, take care of diversity and culture, and respect each other. We must provide a positive impact and unforgettable memories,” said Dimas.

Zaki Alif Ramadhani, Field Supervisor, added that each participant needs to take care of themselves and their colleagues during the expedition, in line with the message from Vice Rector III, “Budhal selamat, balik selamat.”

With the end of this farewell event, Brawijaya Mega Expedition is expected to be a real manifestation of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in the aspect of community service, as well as motivating other students to care more about the community in underdeveloped areas.
