UB Chancellor Visits the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University to Strengthen International Collaboration

Prof. Widodo and the Presidential Forum 2025 delegation visited the Food Innovation and Packaging Center, CMU.

Chiang Mai, Thailand – Friday, January 24, 2025, the Rector of Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Med.Sc., visited the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University (CMU), Thailand. His presence was warmly welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Assoc. Prof. Yuthana Phimolsiripol, Ph.D., accompanied by the Vice Dean, Assoc. Prof. Niramon Utama-ang, Ph.D., Director of the Food Innovation and Packaging Center, Shitapan Bai-Ngew, Ph.D., and Assistant Dean, Asst. Prof. Dr. Pavalee C.P.

The visit discussed collaboration opportunities in various international flagship programs aimed at enhancing academic and research cooperation between the two institutions. Several strategic topics discussed included matching fund research, visiting lecturers, 3 in 1 programs, UB Stars, Adjunct Professor, and Sabbatical Leave. Assoc. Prof. Yuthana welcomed the offer of collaboration from Universitas Brawijaya and expressed his commitment in maximizing the collaboration.

During the meeting, Vice Dean, Assoc. Prof. Niramon Utama-ang, Ph.D., also provided his views on the development of collaborative programs and conveyed the potential for joint research in the field of food innovation. Meanwhile, Asst. Prof. Dr. Pavalee explained the general profile of the Faculty of Agro-Industry, including flagship programs, research facilities, and academic development focus. The discussion was productive by highlighting various synergy opportunities that can support the common goals of both institutions.

The activity was continued with a visit to several superior facilities at the Faculty of Agro-Industry, such as the Food Innovation and Packaging Center, laboratories, pilot plants, and the Science and Technology Park. Prof. Widodo appreciated the cutting-edge technology owned by CMU, especially in the field of food and packaging innovation.

Through this visit, Universitas Brawijaya and Chiang Mai University hope to establish closer cooperation, not only in academic research and development, but also supporting international mobility for lecturers and students.

This collaboration is expected to be a strategic step to encourage the internationalization of both institutions and create a significant impact on the development of global education and research.
