The Rector Announce Officially Sumber Sekar Field Laboratory at Faculty of Animal Husbandry

Brawijaya University Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Mochammad Bisri, MS officially announced Sumber Sekar field laboratory owned by Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Tuesday (30/jan/2018). The event that coincided with the leaders meeting and a meeting on lecture preparation invited all Brawijaya University principal boards as well as Head of Bureaus, the Dean, lecturers and administration staff at Faculty of Animal Husbandry, and Bank BNI representatives.

In his address, Bisri mentioned that an effort towards World Class Entrepreneurial University is human resources improvement and lecturers’ competency. One of the ways is by cultivating research and providing supported facilities. Therefore, laboratory development becomes working program agenda.

According to his observation, around 90% of Brawijaya University lecturers are still focused on education, namely teaching. While the ones who already doing research, are still far from the target.

The statement was welcomed by Dean of Faculty of Animal Husbandry Prof. Dr.Sc.Agr. Ir. Suyadi, MS by developing Sumber Sekar field laboratory. Its development which was initiated in 2017 later will not only be a practicum place but also for livestock production and marketing. Apart of that, also will be used as edu-tourism for communities or students.

After the inauguration, the principal boards that consisted of Rectorate officials and the Deans have a meeting in the 2nd floor meeting room. Meanwhile, lecturers of Faculty of Animal Husbandry also joined in the preparation meeting of lecture activities for even semester of 2017/2018 academic year in 1st floor meeting hall.

Afterwards the Rector accompanied by principals of Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Head of Sumber Sekar Laboratory had a visit around the cage to see cattle there. Bisri seemed to be enthusiastic to see the cattle and launching a cage repair that is more modern and ordered the faculty staffs to develop Senduro goat and Merino sheep. [dta/Humas UB/trans. Denok]
