Rector Dispatch Community Service Group to Masakambing

Dispatching Group of Community Service Program to MasakambingInstitute of Research and Community Services (LPPM UB) dispatched a group of thematic Community Service Program (KKN Tematik) named Ekspedisi Perintis Maritim (EPM/Maritime Pioneering Expedition). This event was held in Rectorate’s lobby on Thursday (25/Jan/2018) and followed by 30 participats of 9 faculties.

The program will take place in Masakambing, Masalembu Island, Sumenep, East Java themed “Development Strategy of potential coastal villages in the most left behind, the foremost and the outermost areas. Several services areas are including healthcare, education, tourism, conservation and environment.

This event was attended by Head of LPPM Dr. Ir. Bambang Susilo , MSc.Agr., Chief of the Commitee, Dr. Susinggih Wijana, MS and officiated by Rector of Universitas Brawijaya Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohammad Bisri MS.

In his address, the Rector delivered that he welcomed the current community services activities. “This is one of the ain tasks in Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, namely education, research and community services,” he explained.

In accordance with Brawijaya University vision and mission namely entrepreneurial university, which during the time is considered that education circle is higher than research and community services circle. “By the existence of this thematic community service program, hopefully both research and community service are able to be balanced with education,” he added. He also hoped that later the community service program has higher credits in purposes to brand Universitas Brawijaya internationally and in rural areas.

As the Chief of Commitee, Susinggih hoped that in the future, any special interest units such as Student Regiment (Resimen Mahasiswa), Voluntary Corps (Korps Sukarela) and IMPALA (Nature lovers bond) could be facilitated to have community services to the remote island twice a year.
