There was something unusual about the 15th anniversary of the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) in 2024. Cosplay Fun Run became one of the series of events with a unique concept, namely the theme of Superhero. Many participants carried the theme of heroes from Hollywood and Marvel to anime and local heroes. This Cosplay Fun Run aims to gather cosplay lovers who like running.
The Cosplay Fun Run event was held on Sunday (10/20/2024) at the UB Dieng Campus Field starting at 5.30 A.M. Participants looked enthusiastic starting in the morning. It can be seen from the diverse participants, ranging from children to adults, with various funny, unique, and creative costumes.
The categories of this running event are (1) general for a distance of 5 km, (2) kid dash for ages 6-12 years with a distance of 1 km, and (3) kid dash for ages under six years with a distance of 1 km. The difference in categories for children is that for categories under six years of age, parents must be accompanied during running activities.
Regarding health team preparation, the Cosplay Fun Run team led by Wiranto Aji Dewandono, M.Pd., collaborated with UB Hospital to provide an ambulance, two doctors, and a nurse as the medical team. So, there is no need to worry if there are participants who feel unable to run or feel sick and need paramedic assistance. The FCS team is ready for several possibilities to occur.
In addition, FCS UB also collaborates with the Run Malang Run or RMR community to handle the fun run. Well-known brands such as Oppo, BRI, BNI, WW Gym, Dedayu Villa, Konterplus, Huga’s Kitchen, Catalis Deco, Kahf, Society Physiotherapy, Pocari Sweat, Crystaline, and Sunpride also participated as sponsors in this race event, and various bazaar tenants that enlivened the event.
In addition to participants from the public, this activity was attended by education staff, lecturers, FCS UB students, and representatives from FKH, Fikes, and UB Dieng Vocations with approximately 400 participants. The starting point starts from Building B Fikes and finishes at the same place with two different routes for the 5k fun run and kid dash 1k. Each participant received a medal, race pack, BIB number, and refreshments in the form of bananas from Sunpride, Crystaline drinking water, and Pocari Sweat.
After entering the finish line, the participants were invited to join Zumba with coach Intan. Participants could also enjoy entertainment from Helena Music, a food and beverage bazaar, and other booths.
In addition to providing prizes for each of the three winners of the most detailed and unique cosplay category, the committee also prepared prizes for the children’s cosplay category winners.
The most detailed cosplay category winner was the first-place winner who carried the Spiderman concept, the second-place winner with the Srikandi puppet theme, while the third-place winner took the Predator theme.
The winner for the most unique cosplay category, the first winner with the concept of the Punisher cosplay, the second winner was the participant with the concept of Corporal Jono, and the third winner was the participant with the cosplay of Frieren and Himmel from one of the anime films.
As for the children’s cosplay category, the first winner was Snow White, the second winner was Tinker Bell, the third winner was Son Goku, Dragon Ball, the fourth winner was Hulk, and the fifth winner was a soldier.
In her speech, the Dean of FCS UB, Hamamah, Ph.D., invited the participants to have fun on this day. Hopefully, this activity will strengthen the brotherhood between the big family of FCS UB and all participants in the community in general.
