Brawijaya English Tournament 2016 has organized for two days, Saturday-Sunday (27-28/Feb/2016) at Deanery’s Hall Faculty of Engineering University of Brawijaya (FT-UB). The annual competition organized by Students Activities Unit (Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa/UKM) FORMASI (Forum Mahasiswa Studi Bahasa Inggris) for the fifth times invite Senior High Schools all over Indonesia.
A Steering Committee Ahmad Giannuhlihi mentioned, there were 50 schools joined in the competition that has organized for 22nd times. Meanwhile numbers of participants in total were 230 with details 50 debate teams, 40 story telling participants and 40 speech participants.
Vice Rector III’s expert staff Dr. Ir. Eko Widodo, M.Agr.Sc in his opening speech mentioned, the competition winner will receive entry ticket to be enrolled as UB’s student. As this year, UB opens enrollment for students with non-academic achievements. The enrollment uses SNMPTN (Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri/National Selection of State Universities). A school with national-achievement student, in addition to upload semester grades data, able to add student’s achievement certificate. Besides, certificate copies could be submitted to Academic Division of UB’s Main Office.
“Although already had a certificate, you must maintain capabilities since remained there will be a test later,” he said.
Similar thing also delivered by FT-UB’s Vice Dean I Dr. Ir. Surjono, MTP. He invited students who championed the competition to enroll FT-UB unless any academic test.
The winners of debate competition branch were SMAN 1 Sidoarjo, followed by SMAN 1 Sidoarjo (B), SMAK St. Albertus Malang and SMAK Petra 2 Surabaya. Meanwhile on storytelling competition branch, the winners were Putu W (SMAN 1 Denpasar), Putu Kania (SMAN 1 Denpasar), and Noviana Nur Imani (SMAN 1 Trenggalek). The other competition branch was speech, of which championed by Syaima Gatneh (SMA Al Hikmah Surabaya), followed by redho Erlandi (SMAN 2 Krakatau Steel Cilegon), Zalfa Attiyah (SMAN 20 Surabaya).
