PT. BMU UB Launches Brewi Jaya Coffee and Eatery at Pandaan – Malang Rest Area

PT Brawijaya Multi Usaha (BMU) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) officially launched Brewi Jaya Coffee and Eatery located at Pandaan Rest Area – Malang on Monday (3/17). The event held in the afternoon was attended by UB academicians, including the vice rector, dean, director of BPU, and the management of PT BMU. Moreover, the Business Director of PT Jasa Marga, Bayu Nurbaya, was also present at the inauguration event.

The Director of PT BMU, Dr. Edy Purwanto, S.TP., M.M., in his speech revealed that this event involved three main activities. In addition to the inauguration of Brewi Jaya as a new coffee eatery, the event was also filled with donations for orphans and breaking the fast together, which coincided with the momentum of Nuzulul Quran. The activity began with the opening of the Quran reading since dawn and closed with a prayer at two in the afternoon.

The launch of Brewi Jaya marked PT BMU’s first step in expanding its business outside the UB campus after being established for one year. Previously, this company was more focused on operating within the campus environment, but now it is entering its second year by introducing its first outlet outside the campus, precisely at the Rest Area 66A Pandaan – Malang, which is a category A rest area owned by Jasa Marga.

Brewi Jaya Coffee and Eatery will serve visitors with two operational shifts, starting at 07.00 am to 10.00 pm. However, during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, from D-7 to D+7, this café will operate 24 hours in three shifts.

In his speech, Edy Purwanto also expressed his gratitude to all parties who have supported the implementation of this event. Brewi Jaya is designed to be a friendly place for various communities. One sign of high enthusiasm is the planned event from the sports car enthusiast community which will soon be held at this place.

Furthermore, Edy revealed that even though Brewi Jaya has been opened, there are still some shortcomings that will continue to be fixed. Some of Brewi Jaya’s superior features include a very strategic location with a 360-degree view, a disability-friendly design, and typical Malang menus such as meatballs and sticky rice coffee. In addition, this place is also equipped with a children’s play area and massage chairs on the second floor as part of the rest area’s rest facilities.

Brewi Jaya is part of UB Coffee unit expansion with a new brand that is now operating independently. Edy also said that the company plans to expand its reach by building Brewi Jaya in Jogorawi Rest Area, Jakarta, which is projected to start operating in early May 2025. The concept carried will integrate various modes of land transportation such as LRT, Damri, and Busway, making Brewi Jaya a wider and more integrated culinary destination.

With this launch, PT BMU hopes that Brewi Jaya can be the main choice for visitors looking for a place to relax and enjoy culinary delights along the way, while introducing the richness of Malang’s culinary specialties. [kan/UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
