The Student Choir Team (PSM) of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) has again made a proud achievement by winning 2nd Runner-up in the 2024 National Student Choir Competition (LPSMN) organized by Puspresnas Kemendikbudristek. The competition was held at Sam Ratulangi University, Manado, North Sulawesi, for five days (1/7-5/7/2024).
This achievement is the result of the hard work and dedication of UB PSM members in thorough and disciplined preparation. Marcella Chika Nathania Listyaningrum, a student of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology who is also a representative of UB PSM team, tells the story behind how her team’s struggle and hard work paid off until now.
“Of course, we are proud to be able to maintain the ranking that we got, especially with a fairly short and dense preparation time, both in terms of preparing materials and training as well as administration,” said the representative of PSM UB.
Despite having a short preparation time, PSM UB was not afraid to face the challenges. They carried out various intensive preparations, such as vocal training, consolidating song material, and team bonding programs to strengthen the cohesiveness and cooperation between members.
“We try to provide intensive training that can support the abilities of the singers. In addition, there is also a team bonding program which aims to deepen the chemistry and cooperation within the team,” explained Cella.
PSM UB’s efforts and hard work paid off. They managed to pass the online preliminary round and performed stunningly in the final round, leading them to win the 2nd Runner-up of LPSMN 2024.
“As the name implies, Choir, it is necessary to be able to listen to each other and give maximum effort for the common good,” he said.
This achievement is a motivation for PSM UB to continue to work and improve its quality. “Keep trying and working, become the best, always remember that there is a sky above the sky. Keep looking for inspiration and role models that are in accordance with the vision that we have,” said FTP students to the young generation of choir lovers.
