FILKOM Information System Study Program Achieves 2024 UB PKKM-Like Grant

FILKOM UB PKMM-Like Coordination Meeting

The Information Systems (SI) Study Program, Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB), implemented the Independent Campus Competition Program (PKKM-Like) grant from UB in 2024. This grant has resulted in various innovations and new facilities in the Study Program that provide significant benefits in supporting the learning process, research, and services for students. Through this PKKM-Like grant, the SI Study Program now has Enterprise Architecture software from SparxSystem. This software plays an important role in supporting learning in various courses such as Database Design, Business Process Modeling, Information Systems Engineering, Design Patterns, and Enterprise Architecture. With this software, students can deepen their understanding through direct practice using cutting-edge technology that is relevant to industry needs. Students who want to use this software can contact the Information System and Public Relations Manager (PSIK) FILKOM UB. Moreover, this grant also allows the procurement of hardware for a desktop computer and a server computer that greatly contributes to the completion of students’ lecture assignments, theses, and final assignments. This facility makes it easier for students to complete various academic projects with adequate infrastructure support. Aswin Suharsono, S.T., M.T., a lecturer in the Technology Education Study Program and Riswan S. Sianturi, Ph.D., a lecturer in the Information Technology Study Program also expressed their appreciation for the innovation presented.

“The use of Enterprise Architecture software really helps us in teaching concepts that were previously difficult to imagine theoretically to students,” they both explained.

Student Service Desk (ALMA)

One of the most prominent innovations from the implementation of PKKM-Like is the presence of the Student Service Desk (ALMA) at FILKOM UB. ALMA is designed to provide self-service to students, such as printing Study Result Cards (KHS) and Student Certificates (SKM) free of charge. This facility not only facilitates access to administrative services, but also creates time efficiency for students and administrative staff. Head of the SI Study Program, Ir. Yusi Tyroni Mursityo, S.Kom., M.AB., expressed his gratitude for the realization of these various facilities.

“We thank Universitas Brawijaya for the support through this PKKM-Like grant. With the presence of new devices and facilities, we hope that students can feel the positive impact directly in their learning process. This is also a strategic step to continue to improve the quality of education and services in the SI Study Program,” explained Yusi.

PKKM-Like UB has supported the implementation of the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) between the Information Systems Study Program and Bangkit Academy and Maxy Academy. This FGD was held in offline and online formats, with the aim of discussing the development and implementation of the Capstone Project (CP) and the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum in the SI Study Program. This collaboration aims to create a curriculum that is more adaptive to industry needs and is able to encourage students to develop practical skills. The CP designed through this collaboration provides space for students to work on multidisciplinary projects that are relevant to real-world challenges. Thus, graduates of the Information Systems Study Program are expected to have high competitiveness in the global job market.

One of the important achievements of PKKM-Like UB is supporting the implementation of the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) Certified Internship Program for 4 Information Systems Study Program students. This internship program provides an opportunity for students to learn directly in the industrial world, work on real projects, and expand their professional networks. This internship program is designed to be converted into courses of at least 10 credits, so that students can still complete their studies according to schedule. Students who take part in this program not only gain practical experience, but also certification that can increase their added value in the world of work. Intan Sartika Eris Maghfiroh, S.E., M.B.A., one of the lecturers of the Information Systems Study Program said that with this program, students gain new insights into how the theories learned in class are applied in the industrial world.

“This program really gives students the confidence to face future career challenges,” said Intan.

Through these strategic steps, FILKOM UB Information Systems Study Program continues to demonstrate its commitment to create a learning environment that is innovative, support students to compete in the global world, and providing positive contributions to the world of higher education in Indonesia. This success is expected to be a motivation for other faculties and study programs to continue to innovate in improving the quality of education and services, in line with the spirit of the Independent Campus initiated by the government.
