FIKES Doctoral Community Service’s Program Socialize the KOMPETEN Program

The 2024 Doctoral Community Service Team of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya (FIKES UB), led by Prof. Dr. Titin Andri Wihastuti, S.Kp., M.Kes, started a community service program in Yosowilangun Lor Village, Yosowilangun District, Lumajang Regency. This program focuses on improving health management and preventing hypertension complications through the establishment of the Hypertension Care Community (KOMPETEN).

“Optimizing the role of KOMPETEN cadres is very important in increasing public awareness regarding blood pressure control, implementing a healthy lifestyle, and adhering to routine medication,” said the Head of the Doctoral Community Service Team, Prof. Titin.

This is an important foundation for the program carried out by the KKN team to address the low health management of hypertension sufferers in the village.

In 2023, a similar program was implemented with a focus on increasing the capacity of cadres in detecting hypertension cases. This year, the program continues with the formation of KOMPETEN cadres who will lead educational activities, exercise, and routine health checks. The long-term plan includes improving independent hypertension care management and monitoring in Yosowilangun Health Center area.

Initial online meetings were held on July 27 and August 3, 2024, followed by a planned face-to-face meeting at the end of August. This activity will be filled with health checks and physical activities, as well as producing the first batch of KOMPETEN cadres.

The 2024 UB FIKES Doctoral Community Service Program is a real step in implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in the field of community service, and is expected to be a sustainable solution to the problem of hypertension in Yosowilangun Lor Village. (*/UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
