Jingga Mangun Karsa Program, Student Executive Board of  FISIP Empowers Mask Village

The Ministry of Social and Environment of Student Executive Board (BEM) FISIP UB officially opened the 2024 Jingga Mangun Karsa work program in Kampung Topeng (Mask Village). This work program aims to provide education to children who have difficulty in accessing education.

“Through the Social Service we learned that Kampung Topeng was created to accommodate homeless people. This area is a place under the supervision of the Social Service so that people no longer take to the streets, especially their children. However, in the end it didn’t work anymore after Covid and the Social Service also no longer managed the area,” said Dhika Yuan, Minister of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Environment BEM FISIP UB.

Yuan revealed that Jingga Mangun Karsa provides material that has been adapted to children’s needs, namely an introduction to professions to aspire to avoid being stuck on the streets. In-depth understanding of body parts that should not be touched to provide a basis for how to take care of yourself, as well as caring for society and the environment.

“There are also secondary programs in construction, the first is to present a welcome board for Kampung Topeng, the second is to revitalize the building and the masks as an iconic form of the area,” he said.

To ensure the sustainability of this program, the Ministry of Social and Environment BEM FISIP UB plans to continue the education and development program in Kampung Topeng which they are carrying out in the next administration so that the problem of employing minors or child labor can be resolved.

“We hope that the government will pay attention to the distribution of education in Malang City and its surroundings. Because education is the right of all nations and the quality of a country is determined by the education of all levels of society,” said Yuan. (Fazlar/FISIP PR/ OKY/ UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
