
The Faculty of Law sent several delegations in the student exchange program for lecturers and students at the Faculty of Social Sciences, State University of Jakarta. As the final series of the short course “Taking Perspective”, the activity was closed with a seminar entitled “Implementation of Pencasila in Life as a Nation and State” which took place on Wednesday (11/09/2024) at the M. Syafei Building, Campus A UNJ, Jakarta from 09.00 to 11.00 WIB. This seminar was moderated by Mushlihin, S.Pd.I, M.A. and attended by all delegates, both lecturers and students.
This seminar presented Prof. Yudi Latif, Ph.D., a scholar and activist in the field of religion and state. Prof. Yudi Latif, Ph.D. is the author of the book “Negara Paripurna: Historiitas, Rationalitas, Aktualitas Pancasila” or Perfect Country: History, Rationality, and Actuality of Pancasila, and former Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP).
In his presentation, Prof. Yudi Latif emphasized the importance of Pancasila as the basis for unity in Indonesia’s diversity.
“Indonesia as a pluralistic society and the largest archipelagic country in the world, has combined ethnic and cultural diversity, as Indonesian citizens it is necessary to expand connectivity and inclusivity in the formulation of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” explained Prof. Yudi Latif, Ph.D.
In addition, Prof. Yudi Latif also said that with Indonesia’s diversity, it results in challenges in achieving equal distribution of community welfare, especially in fulfilling education in Indonesia which is still carried out by non-government parties.
“Equality in education is still difficult to achieve, in fact, until now most schools still have private school status, they help meet the need for education that is still minimal,” he added.
With the presence of the speaker, Prof. Yudi Latif, Ph.D. this seminar is expected to provide new impacts and perspectives and deepen the delegates’ understanding of the implementation of Pancasila in everyday life. (dzilla/WDD/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
