Prof. Dr. Iwan Permadi, SH., M.Hum was inaugurated as a professor in the field of Agrarian Law at the Faculty of Law (FH) on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Samantha Krida Building.

He is the 10th active Professor at the Faculty of Law and the 218th active Professor at UB, as well as the 393rd Professor of all Professors produced by UB.

He delivered a speech entitled “Smart Agrarian Concept: Strengthening, Securing Physical Data and Legal Data in Electronic Land Certificates”.

One of the main pillars in the smart agrarian concept is the digitization of land certificates through an information technology-based system. The digitization of land certificates aims to realize the modernization of land services, increase efficiency, ease of doing business, and data transparency. Through this application, land certificates that have been issued in physical form can now be managed and accessed digitally.

This digitization is expected to create a more transparent, secure, and efficient system. The advantages of electronic land certificates are security, namely electronic documents are protected by encryption technology and double authentication, which makes it more difficult to counterfeit.

The challenges of implementing electronic certificates are in terms of infrastructure readiness and digital literacy of the community which is still inadequate, especially in remote areas that have not been reached by internet access.

The weaknesses of the digitization of land certificates are the Technology Infrastructure Gap, Low levels of digital literacy, potential cybersecurity risks, legal and regulatory constraints, and high implementation and maintenance costs in the field of information technology.
