Information System Study Program Held Socialization on The Independent Campus Curriculum

The Information Systems Study Program (SI Study Program) FILKOM UB held an online socialization about the New Curriculum and the Independent Campus Curriculum 2020-2024 on Monday (3/8/2020). Yusi Tyroni Mursityo, S.Kom., M.AB. as the Chairperson of SI Study Program became the speaker who delivered the socialization material to dozens of students managing the SI student association (KBMSI).

Yusi explained that the 2020 curriculum was made by considering four different profiles of SI graduates consisting of Information Systems Developers, Information Systems Managers, Data Managers and Data Scientists, and Information System Managers. The four graduate profiles are determined by considering input from APTIKOM, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), IEEE Computer Society, job availability, alumni tracer study and human resources.

In the 2020-2024 Curriculum there will be some changes in compulsory subjects and choices that can be taken by students. Some of the courses in the old curriculum were eliminated, replaced, added / reduced in the new curriculum. However, there will be rules for curriculum transition that will apply, so that it does not make it difficult for old students.

“The courses taken in 2016 curriculum will still be recognized, and will follow the 2020 curriculum starting from Odd Semester 2020-2021 later,” Yusi explained.

The 2020-2024 curriculum also applies the concept of an independent campus in accordance with Indepent Learning policy: Kemendikbud Independent Campus. The SI Study Program itself, explained Yusi, will offer six kinds of independent campus schemes for its students. The first scheme is the regular lecture scheme in SI study program. The second scheme is one semester of study outside the SI Study Program. The third scheme is the opportunity to study 1 semester outside UB. The fourth scheme is to study 2 semesters outside UB. The fifth scheme is a combination of the second and third schemes, which is 1 semester study outside SI Study Program and 1 semester outside UB. The fifth scheme is a combination of the second and fourth schemes, which is 1 semester study outside the SI Study Program and 2 semesters outside UB. Information and guidelines of the new curriculum will be widely disseminated again later before the new academic year begins. Now the curriculum draft is still waiting for the briefing from UB Rector.

“For the lecture scheme outside the SI Study Program, students may take courses from other study programs in FILKOM or other faculties in UB. But the courses taken must support the skills or be relevant to the SI graduate profile. Meanwhile, studying outside UB can only be done with campuses that have collaborated with UB, “explained Yusi.
