Master of Communication Science Study Program Establishes Double Degree Class with Australia

The Master of Communication Science Study Program of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a cooperation meeting with Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Bathurst, Australia. The cooperation with the largest regional university in Australia was carried out on (15/10-11/10/2024).

This collaboration aims to formulate an international double degree program with a focus on the Master of Digital Media and Global Communication, which will be launched next year.

Both universities are known as regional flagship campuses in their respective countries.

UB has been recognized as a university with the best reputation in East Java and plays an important role in the development of education and research in eastern Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Charles Sturt University is the largest university in regional Australia, with a strong focus on practical education and community engagement.

The delegation from UB who attended this meeting consisted of Maulina Pia Wulandari, Ph.D., as Head of the Master of Communication Study Program, and Dr. Antoni, S.Sos., M.Si., a senior lecturer in the same program. From CSU, the meeting was attended by Professor Tina Du, Head of School of Information and Communication Studies, Dr. Deborah Wise, Course Coordinator, and Dr. Travis Holland, senior lecturer, along with other academic staff.

This meeting emphasized the development of a joint curriculum to support the implementation of a double degree program that will strengthen students’ competencies in the field of digital media and global communication.

This program is expected to be able to prepare graduates with the latest skills that are relevant to the development of communication technology.

“The collaboration between UB and CSU will open up great opportunities for our students to gain international educational experience. This program not only broadens global horizons, but also increases students’ competitiveness in the dynamic digital communication industry,” said Maulina Pia Wulandari, Ph.D.

Professor Tina Du added that this collaboration is an extraordinary opportunity for both leading regional institutions to learn and develop from each other.

“With this double degree program, students will gain the skills needed to succeed in the digital era,” she said.

In addition to curriculum formulation, the meeting also included discussions related to online learning infrastructure at CSU, credit transfer regulations, and coordination with international offices to ensure the smooth implementation of this program.
