PRO-KONTRA and Indonesian Tourism Conservation

Allan Dwi Pranta and Kholidil Amin at 2016 UNS' Student Scientific Festival Natural resources management for tourism is a matter in Indonesia. The lack of resources management resulted in Indonesian position in sequence of 50 of World Economic Forum 2015 version. This is the background of PRO-KONTRA design, a social network site to promote Indonesian position by Allan Dwi Pranata and Kholidil Amin.

PRO-KONTRA is an abbreviation of Archipelago Tourism Conservation Program based on New Media and Integrated Community (Program Konservasi Pariwisata Nusantara berbasis New Media dan Komunitas Terintegrasi). The application has brought delegates of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences University of Brawijaya to win Student Scientific Festival Competition in order to celebrate Sebelas Maret State University’s anniversary, Friday until Sunday (4-6/Mar/2016).

“Our work was appreciated by the judges panel as considered to be the best social media application for nature conservation,” said Allan. According to Allan, the application is a form of social media in related with tourism conservation. “Indonesian natural resources is actually huge, yet its lack of management. The matters are the lack of technology utilization, promotions have not been vigorously and no integration yet between related organizers,” he explained.

By the application design, either Allan or Kholidil expected able to exploit Instagram concept, and added by several other strategies, like creating online and offline communities, having research and also natural rescue and preservation,” they explained. In the future, both students expected to build the application in order to be utilized to promote and manage Indonesian tourism. “We plan to hold Faculty of Computer Science students to build the application,” they ended.
