The statistics corner of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) won an award as the first best from the Central Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Indonesia (BPS RI). The award was given by the Head of BPS RI Dr. Margo Yuwono to UB Rector, Prof. Widodo, S.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.Med.Sc in Jakarta, Monday (30/1/2023).
The achievements achieved by UB are based on the results of monitoring and evaluation, presentation of work programs, and interviews on activities carried out in 2022.
The Head of UB Statistics Corner Team from BPS Malang City, Tasmilah, S.ST, ME said that the highest score was given because of the variety of statistical activities and services such as statistical consultations, statistical education, as partners in FMIPA Thematic PKM program, MBKM FEB partners, involvement in lecturers practitioners for statistics and econometrics courses at FEB, contribute to working lecturer programs, and participate in study program accreditation assessments within the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB)
Meanwhile UB Rector, Prof. Widodo, S.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.Med.Sc expressed his gratitude for the profitable collaboration with BPS.
“Allhamdullillah, our students have received benefits from BPS to conduct Village Community Service Programs in 57 Sub-district Villages. We have a program to build 1000 villages in East Java,” he said.
The former Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences said that BPS provided a lot of support, especially in building database bases in villages through statistical assistance and coaching.
“Hopefully in the future, UB can become the center of Indonesia’s development,” he said.
The statistics corner of Universitas Brawijaya is a collaboration between BPS Malang City and the Faculty of Economics and Universitas Brawijaya.
The Statistics Corner was established with the aim of increasing statistical literacy and bringing statistical services closer to universities.
In his speech Dr. Margo Yuwono said that the Statistics Corner was a collaboration with the academic community in increasing literacy and data utilization down to the village level.
The Statistics Corner of Universitas Brawijaya was established on the initiative of the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, the Dean of FMIPA, and the Head of BPS Malang City.
The Statistics Corner has received support from the Faculty of Economics and Business, from room facilities to various activities involving students.
The Statistics Corner Award event was also attended by the Head of BPS Malang City, Erny Fatma Setyoharini, SE, MM. It was under Erny’s leadership that UB Statistics Corner was successfully initiated and inaugurated on March 21, 2022 with full support from UB Faculty of Economics and Business.
