Several UB faculty leaders participated in a joint painting activity as a series of celebrations for the 15th Anniversary of the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB). This activity occurred in two sessions, on Monday (9/30/2024) for vice deans in the park of Building B FCS UB and Wednesday (10/2/2024) for deans in the hall of Building A FCS UB.

According to the Organizing Coordinator, Dyanningrum Pradhikta, S.Sn., M.Ds., the primary purpose of this activity is to provide a space for expression and recreation for faculty leaders.

“Art can not only be used as a means of expression, but we can also release boredom or recreational media. In addition, we also see this as a means of introducing art to other faculties,” she explained.

The deans and vice deans could paint on a blank or patterned canvas. During the painting process, they were accompanied by the Study Programme of Fine Arts students as facilitators, who helped with the technical aspects of painting.

One of the participants, drh. Herlina Pratiwi, M.Si., Vice Dean for General Affairs, Resources, and Finance of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) UB, shared her experience in the activity.

“This is something new at FCS’s anniversary, representing what is in the faculty. It’s quite interesting because painting can be a form of mental therapy to release emotional burdens. It’s fun to play with colors and release what we have been facing at work,” she said.
