Group 476 of Students Build Village (MMD) Universitas Brawijaya, Malang installed disaster-prone maps, evacuation route signs, and evacuation points in Gemaharjo Trenggalek Village which is vulnerable to landslides. This effort was carried out after the team conducted a survey for about two weeks with village officials and the local RT regarding locations prone to landslides and the search for temporary evacuation points.
Muhammad Rafi Eka as the person in charge of the activity said that with the landslide disaster map, routes and evacuation points it was hoped that it would reduce the risk of victims and damage when entering the rainy season when landslides usually occur.
The geographical condition of Gemaharjo Village which is in the form of mountain slopes certainly makes this area enter the red zone which is prone to landslides, especially during the rainy season. The number of settlements that exist under and on the edge of the cliff is also one of the things that cannot be avoided from the damage caused by this landslide disaster.
“The absence of evacuation routes and temporary evacuation points is also our main concern in implementing this program in Gemaharjo Village,” said Muhammad Rafi.

This activity received a positive response from various groups, including the BPBD in the East Java region which carried out socialization on disaster response villages, village officials, and the people of Gemaharjo village. This activity was also inseparable from the support of RTs who were the targets of this activity, namely RT 10,11,18,,23,24,29 and the enthusiastic residents.
“Allhamdulillah, thank you for the work program that the students have implemented. This will be very useful for the village in the future, especially when entering landslide-prone seasons and will be a joint anticipation forward for us and all RTs are encouraged to jointly maintain the maps and signs that have been installed in their respective areas,” said Mahmud Cholis as head of Gemahardjo village.
