Two new ministers were inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jokowi, last Wednesday (15/6/2022). The current Minister of Trade is Zulkifli Hasan. Meanwhile, the Minister of ATR/BPN is held by Hadi Tjahjanto.
Lecturer of Political Science Universitas Brawijaya, Wawan Sobari Ph.D, suggested that the Minister of Trade must act quickly to deal with current conditions, one of which is by mobilizing trade intelligence.
“Trade intelligence is important in detecting anything that is happening in the market. Don’t forget that we also have a Business Competition Supervisory Commission, they are formal institutions and can be used by the Minister of Trade,” he explained, Friday (17/6/2022).
According to Wawan, the Minister of Trade will not be able to walk alone because his role also needs assistance like the Minister of Agriculture. Then the Police can help so that nothing deviates.
“The prosecutor’s office can be too. The Ministry of Trade must be in harmony with other institutions and be able to read the market situation,” continued Wawan.
The Minister of Trade’s biggest homework, said Wawan Sobari, is of course about cooking oil and the price of basic necessities.
“Of course, the current concern at the Ministry of Trade is the cooking oil mafia. And we all know that insiders play. So, the scarcity that had occurred was not due to raw materials but because there were irregularities,” said this expert of government.
“Besides cooking oil mafia, of course, the price of basic necessities is another homework. This is important because after the pandemic, Indonesia needs more speed in economic recovery,” continued Wawan Sobari.
Meanwhile, for the Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning, Wawan Sobari asked the new minister to focus on the agrarian reforms that have been launched by President Jokowi, namely the issue of social land distributed to the people.
“This program should not be deviations at the lowest level. For example, there are cases where the certificate does not reach the recipient. Not to mention there are other cases where we have to pay to get a certificate,” said this doctoral alumnus at Flinders University of South Australia.
With the presence of Hadi Tjahjanto, according to Wawan, there is military experience plus his relationships that will help realize the program.
“He knows how to work with the authorities. Not only does approach legal evidence, but Hadi has intelligence capabilities, so there will be different things in spatial and agrarian planning,” concluded Wawan Sobari. (Humas FISIP/ Humas UB/ Trans. Iir)
