“Persingahan”, a short film by students of the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) managed to achieve by bringing home the Malang Mayor’s Cup as the 1st winner in the 2023 Pelangi Nusantara Short Film Competition with the theme “Independent, Tough, and Sustainable” in the student or public category.
In the film production, Rachmad Samudera (English Literature, 2020) was in charge as the producer, and Putri Savitri (Indonesian Language and Literature Education, 2020) was in charge as the scriptwriter. They were members of SPRD Production. This production team carried the Romance Comedy genre.
With a week’s worth of preparation, from pre- to post-production, SPRD Production has succeeded in presenting a five-minute short film entitled ” Persinggahan ” which can be accessed via YouTube with the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAO6JL8K1yo&t=9s
This film told the story of a young man named Rama who had to struggle in life. His feeling of love, forcing Rama to experience a sense of great loss. With the remaining efforts, Rama was determined to repair what had been damaged. Could Rama reach his destination, or had he only have time to enjoy the beauty of the stopover?
The Government of Malang City through the Board of National and Political Unity held this short film competition for young filmmakers in Malang. This event was held as one of the agendas for the 109th Anniversary of Malang City. This competition was scheduled from April 1, 2023 and entered the climax, winner’s announcement, on Monday night (5/22/2023) at Malang Creative Center.
The competition set categories for college-students or the public, and for students. This event was successful attracting the interest of young filmmakers in Malang. There were dozens of participants from students, college-students, and the general public who competed in this competition. [dts]
