Criminal Justice Research Center (PERSADA) Universitas Brawijaya held a Work Meeting, Evaluation, and Halal Bihalal on Saturday (7/5/2023) in Arjuna Room 3, 1st Floor, Swiss-Belinn Malang.
This activity was attended by 30 people consisting of PERSADA UB researchers who came from lecturers and students across disciplines namely FISIP, FEB, FK, FIB, and FH as well as representatives from the Institute for Research and Community Service Universitas Brawijaya (LPPM UB).
Head of PERSADA UB, Dr. Fachrizal Afandi, S.Psi., S.H., M.H. in his speech he told about the beginning of the establishment of PERSADA as a Study Center which departed from a study group of young lecturers at the Faculty of Law who collaborated with lecturers from FISIP and FIA who later won the study center strengthening grant program (PHK-C) in 2014 from LPPM UB. In the end, PERSADA UB was formed based on the Decree of UB Rector in 2015.
In his report, Dr. Fachrizal mentioned many programs that had been implemented during 2022/2023, both internal programs and programs that collaborated with external parties, both national and international.
PERSADA UB also has cooperation partners at the national level, including the Attorney General’s Office, the Supreme Court, the BRIN Legal Research Center, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, ICW, IJRS, BRIN, ICEL, KLHK and LPBH NU Malang City. In fact, in 2022 PERSADA UB received appreciation from Online Law as “The Best Clinical Partner in the 2022 Criminal Law Category”.
Some of the collaborations include internationally in May 2022 holding an international webinar with the theme “Online Upgrading Series: Development of Principles of Criminal Procedure Law in the Netherlands and Indonesia” in collaboration with Universiteit Leiden Netherlands, Nuffic Neso-NL Alumni, and ICJR.
Meanwhile, national cooperation includes the Indonesian Criminal Law and Criminology Society (MAHUPIKI) which at the end of 2022 will hold a National Law Seminar & Call For Papers with the theme “Building Criminal Law in a Democratic Law Country” attended by hundreds of Indonesian Criminal Law and Criminology academics, National Consultation on Draft Criminal Code in collaboration with UNPAD, UNPAR Atmajaya University and STIH Jentera and several other activities.
In order to realize PERSADA UB’s aspirations to become a pioneer of interdisciplinary study centers at universities that focus on the issue of the Criminal Justice System in Indonesia, PERSADA UB is targeting several programs in 2023/2024.
First carrying out the recruitment of research assistants and research interns, second implementing the PERSADA UB Research School, followed by strengthening national and international cooperation in terms of research and writing articles related to criminal justice issues, involving researchers across faculties, organizing programs to strengthen Socio-legal analysis of assistants PERSADA UB researcher and submitting a Center Of Excellence grant from LPPM UB.
LPPM UB Representative Yusron Sugiarto, STP., MP., MSc., PhD expressed appreciation for the programs and achievements of PERSADA UB in 2022/2023 and is ready to provide full support for PERSADA programs in the future so that it is hoped that many research centers can be followed by the research center.
