UB Library is committed to continuing to support student academic development by optimizing the use of e-resources subscribed by UB Library.
These e-resources include various sources of scientific information that can be accessed by students to support their research. To support the optimization of the use of e-resources and performance targets can be implemented through training held by UB Library or faculties.
On Tuesday, (10/29/2024), two staff of Universitas Brawijaya Library, namely Ir. Hery Prayitno and Pipit Tunjungsari, S.Kom, became speakers at the Systematic Review Training at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FK UB). This training aims to strengthen students’ understanding and skills in conducting systematic review research, which is one of the important methods in medical and health research. The participants seemed enthusiastic about participating in the training and actively discussing with the speakers. Participants in this training were Doctoral Program students of the Medical Science Study Program. This training was held in Lecture Room 3, A Building, 6th Floor, GPP FKUB.
The presence of speakers from UB Library provided invaluable insight into the techniques for compiling structured and evidence-based literature reviews. The materials presented by the speakers included important steps in conducting a systematic review, as well as tips and tricks in using accurate and relevant reference sources.
Accurate and relevant reference sources can be found in UB’s e-resources collection, namely IEEE Xplore: provides literature in the fields of engineering and technology, including journals, conferences, and standards from IEEE; ScienceDirect: Elsevier’s platform that offers scientific articles in science, engineering, health, and social sciences; ProQuest: Multidisciplinary database with a collection of academic journals, dissertations, and reports in various fields; CNKI: the largest scientific literature database in China, covering various disciplines, mainly in Mandarin; SpringerLink: provides journals, books, and research articles in the fields of science, medicine, engineering, and social sciences from Springer publishers; EBSCOhost: a platform that includes a variety of academic journals and research reports in various fields of science; Springer Nature: provides high-quality scientific literature in science, engineering, and medicine; Cambridge University Press: Source of academic journals and books in law, social sciences, science, and medicine; Wiley Online Library: provides journals and books in science, medicine, humanities, and social sciences from Wiley publishers; Emerald Insight: focuses on management, business, and social sciences, providing research articles related to these topics; and Westlaw: a legal database with access to court decisions, statutes, and law journals for legal research.
“This activity is expected to be able to help students improve the quality of their research, especially in terms of scientific literature studies that can support the preparation of their dissertations,” said Head of UPT Library Dr. Iwan Permadi, S.H., M.Hum. (*/UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
