Library and DALA Hold Scorpus Article Writing Training for UB Lecturers

Universitas Brawijaya (UB) Library in collaboration with the Directorate of Administration and Academic Services (DALA) held a Scopus Article Writing Training for lecturers to optimize the use of e-resources. The activity, which was carried out in the Oryza Sativa Room, 3rd Floor of UB Guest House, also aims to help lecturers who do not yet have a Scopus ID so that it can be used to submit articles to Scopus indexed journals or WOS.

The Director of the Directorate of Administration and Academic Services (DALA) Dr. Rosihan Asmara, S.E., M.P who was accompanied by Dr. Iwan Permadi, S.H., M.Hum. as the Head of UB Library said that through this training, it is hoped that it can encourage an increase in the number of Scopus-indexed articles produced by UB lecturers, so that it can improve the university’s academic publication index.

“In the future, advanced training will be carried out routinely, including research-based training and writing articles for indexed journals,” added Dr. Rosihan.

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Imam Santoso, M.P. appreciated this strategic step as part of UB’s efforts to achieve the target of 4000 Scopus-indexed publications. Until the end of 2024, the number of UB publications is still around 1800, but it is hoped that it can increase to 1900 by the end of the year.

“Cheers to all UB lecturers! Let’s realize this target together,” said Prof. Imam optimistically.

In the activity, Prof. Dr. Sc. Asep Awaludin Prihanto, S.Pi., M.P. as the speaker explained the importance of publication in Scopus-indexed journals.

He also provided technical guidance to check whether a lecturer already has a Scopus ID or not. He said, based on the data, almost 600 UB lecturers do not yet have a Scopus ID.

The second speaker from UB library, Ir. Heri delivered material on Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which is a systematic approach to identifying, evaluating, and synthesizing literature related to a particular topic. This material is equipped with a guide to using Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool to accelerate the process of collecting and analyzing literature. The AI ​​technology introduced includes software to manage references and map literature reviews efficiently.

Meanwhile, Pitoyo Widhi Atmoko, S.Si., M.Si. delivered material on Bibliometric Analysis, a quantitative analysis technique to measure the impact and influence of scientific literature.

He introduced various AI-based tools that can be used to identify research trends, measure citation rates, and understand collaboration between authors. This material aims to help UB lecturers maximize the potential of bibliometric data in publication planning.

This training will be continued at UB Library on the 1st floor, precisely in Meeting Room 1. This training is divided into 4 batches, held every week from 9-19 December 2024. It is hoped that with this training, the use of e-resources subscribed to by UB Library will be more optimal.
