Strengthening AI and Robotics, UB Visits Chukyo University Japan

Universitas Brawijaya (UB) is following up on the collaboration with Chukyo University Japan in the fields of academics, research, staff and student exchanges and global culture. The follow-up of this collaboration is carried out through a visit by UB team to Chukyo University Japan, Wednesday (24/5/2023).

The meeting was held in a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) between Chukyo University Japan represented by the Head of Graduate School of Electronic Engineering Chukyo University Prof. Pitoyo Hartono, Dr.Eng (Indonesian diaspora in Japan). Meanwhile, UB Team was led directly by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Internationalization of UB Andi Kurniawan, S.Pi., M.Eng., D.Sc, accompanied by the Secretary of the University Dr. Tri Wahyu Nugroho, S.P., M.Si, Director of International Office Didik Hartono, S.S., M.Pd, and UB Information Technology Researcher Tibyani Hambali, S.ST., M.T.

Andi Kurniawan said that this FGD was related to the establishment of AI and Robotics Research Monument with the Chukyo University research team represented by Prof. Pitoyo Hartono, Dr. Eng, and UB team by Dr. Eng Gembong Edhi Setyawan and Novanto Yudistira, Ph.D.

It should be noted that UB collaboration with Chukyo University Japan has started since 2017. At that time UB invited Prof. Pitoyo Hartono, Dr.Eng who is a member of the Japanese Giant Gundam project team as a guest speaker at the International Conference on Suistanable Information and Engineering Technology 2017. Since 2018 until now, Prof. Pitoyo Hartono, Dr.Eng is involved by UB as a supervisor for undergraduate, graduate and Doctoral.

UB visit to Chukyo University this time was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, the Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Studies, and UB Faculty of Communication Sciences researchers. This activity is in the framework of establishing cooperation with six universities in Japan, namely Chukyo University Nagoya, Waseda University Tokyo, Osaka University, Hiroshima University, Kyushu Institute of Technology, and Kitakyushu University.

“We hope that further cooperation can be further enhanced, such as guest lectures on the application and implementation of AI and robotics as outlined in the Scopus indexed Q1-Q3 scientific journals, adjunct professors, and student-lecturer exchanges,” said Andi Kurniawan.
