Brawijaya University (UB) on Tuesday (23/1/2024) held a socialization on the admission of new students to Brawijaya University for the 2024/2025 academic year to guidance and counseling teachers from high schools throughout Malang Raya.
This activity, which was held at the Widyaloka Building, was opened directly by the Director of the Directorate of Administration and Services, Brawijaya University, Dr. Rosihan Asmara, SE., MP., and attended by approximately 200 participants. Meanwhile, the speakers in this socialization were delivered by the Secretary of the Directorate of Administration and Academy Services, Heri Prawoto Widodo, S.Sos., MAB and the Head of UB Public Relations Sub-Division, Tri Wahyu Basuki, SE.
In his speech, Dr. Rosihan Asmara, SE., MP., explained that Brawijya University’s 2024 – 2025 new student admissions consisted of 2 schemes, namely the national scheme (SNBP and SNBT) and the Independent scheme. The scheme is currently being prepared by the team at UB with various scenarios.
“UB always provides equal opportunities to students by carrying out strict selection, therefore, ladies and gentlemen, we ask that our students really be prepared to face this competition, it is not enough to prepare academically but the most important thing is strategy,” said Rosihan began his speech.
Rosihan explained that the strategy in taking or choosing a study program is very important since if we get the strategy wrong we will compete at a more competitive stage
“Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, you can ask the team here clearly and completely what the right strategy is. Because we can’t put “Lek-lekan” in Javanese quotation marks, just register, just want to. It can’t be like that because now it’s different, unless it really is excellent,” he explained.
“Moreover, now there is a penalty system, so if you have been accepted for the first national selection, you cannot register again anywhere. If first the basics are accepted, later you can register the reserves anywhere. It is now very strict, giving equal opportunities to all test takers. “Therefore, please discuss it together because this year there will be a change in the scenario,” added Rosihan.
In addition, Rosihan also emphasized that regarding the acceptance of new students for the national selection, 100% of the admission system is centralized. Brawijaya University does not interfere in the system at all.
“Therefore, we will ask for your understanding. If, for example, there is an anomaly in acceptance, we will also open a rebuttal period. If we can answer, we will answer, if not, we will forward it to the Central Committee. Likewise in SNBT, it will also be 100% handled by the Central Committee,” explained Rosihan.
For the Independent, in his presentation Rosihan conveyed that the scenario is more or less the same as at the center, because indeed UB adopts it from the center, because the formulas and so on come from the center and there are POBs (Standard Operational Procedures) and provisions, UB just has to adopt them. Meanwhile, the quota will be displayed clearly on Selma UB website.
However, Rosihan also suggested that apart from paying attention to the quota, you should also look at the IPI and UKT payment systems.
“Especially for independents, the quota will be displayed clearly on Selma website. Also consider choosing a study program not only based on academic ability, but I’m sorry, financial ability will also be considered because there will be differences in single tuition fee (UKT) where there are IPI components there,” he concluded.
