More than 150 food handlers at University of Brawijaya (UB) are doing medical tests. The test is a requirement asked by the Health Agency of the Malang City to UB’s canteen to obtain health-feasibility certificate. The health test conducted at UB policlinic for three days (14-16/Mar/2016).
“The medical test is related with canteen’s health-feasibility proposal toward Health Agency of the Malang City. In order to fulfill health-feasibility, food and beverage sample to be sold will be tested at Health Agency’s laboratory. In addition, food handlers also would be checked their health performance either ones who trade or serve food,” said UB’s canteen operational manager Aria Fikriyah, STP.
Aria added that the event is aimed to know health condition of each food handler.
“Of the data gathered, if performed that there are food handlers who are mandatory to have laboratory test, then will be pursued on each personnel,” she said.
In the test, food handlers have height and weight measurement, blood-pressure and physical check-up by the related physicians.
In addition to both matters, water condition used in the canteen also would be tested for feasibility by taking sample on water sources used of each.
Recently there are around 150 canteen tenants at UB, managed by some faculties and the main office. Canteen that managed by the main office are such as canteen in the library building and food court located next to MX Mall. [Oky Dian/Humas UB/trans. Denok]
