Enhancing Tourist Appeal Through Culinary and MSMEs in Randugede Village, Plaosan District, Magetan Regency

Randugede Village, Plaosan District, Magetan Regency, Continues to Boost Tourism Appeal through Various Community Service Activities. One of the prominent activities held was the Integrated Community Service Program with Student Community Service (KKN) from the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya, for the 2024 Fiscal Year, under contract number: 3055.4/UN10.F05/PM/2024.

The event, held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the Lembah Serimpi Randugede Plaosan Tourism Area, Jl. Raya Sentul, Pandean, Randugede, Plaosan District, Magetan Regency, was attended by members of the Family Welfare Program (PKK) who are also MSME entrepreneurs from Randugede Village. The team of lecturers involved in this activity was led by Dr. Dedes Amertaningtyas, with members Dr. Agus Susilo, Dr. Eny Sri Widyastuti, and Dr. Herly Evanuarini. According to Kunzani Widaya, the Head of Randugede Village, this activity is particularly beneficial for the PKK members and MSME entrepreneurs in Randugede.

The goal of this activity was to enhance the knowledge, skills, and motivation of MSMEs in Randugede Village to boost the village’s tourism potential. This was achieved through explanations related to production permits and the diversification of culinary snacks based on gelatin, such as marshmallow candies. Gelatin, derived from animal skin and bones, serves many functions, one of which is as a candy softener.

The materials were delivered by Dr. Dedes Amertaningtyas, with a direct demonstration assisted by student Faiza Bunga Risti. Participants enjoyed the marshmallow candies made together during the session. Additionally, Dr. Agus Susilo provided materials on business permits, explaining in detail the necessary preparations for a smooth culinary business.

To evaluate the success of the activity, participants were asked to fill out questionnaires before and after the counseling and training sessions. The results of these questionnaires will be analyzed to assess the effectiveness of the activity.

The participants were highly enthusiastic, as shown by their active involvement during the marshmallow-making practice. All participants took turns participating directly in the making process, guided by the presenters. It is hoped that this activity will have a significant impact on the village community by increasing the variety of interesting culinary products in the tourism area and understanding business permits and halal certification.

“I hope the participants understand the importance of business permits and how to obtain them, and that they can develop marshmallow variations to increase the diversity of interesting culinary products in the tourism area,” said Dr. Dedes to the training participants.

With this activity, Randugede Village is expected to develop into a more attractive tourist village, thereby increasing the Village’s Original Revenue (PAD) as well as the welfare and living standards of the local community. (team/dfh)
