
The internationalization of higher education is one of the performance targets of higher education institutions that is derived from the performance agreement of the Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources Utilization (PSPK), especially for the Fisheries Resource Utilization Study Program (PSP). One of the partners of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Brawijaya University (FPIK UB) which is included in the QS100 Higher Education is the Faculty of Fisheries Sciences Hokkaido University (FS HU).
As an implementation of the initiation of collaboration between the two institutions, since November 15 2018, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) has been signed between FPIK UB and FS HU which is valid until October 3 2027. Several activities have also been carried out, including research collaboration and summer courses. Learning Satellite involving teaching staff and students from both institutions.
To strengthen the implementation of the MOA between the two institutions, the 2023 Working Lecturer Grant Activity (DOKAR) was carried out by carrying out visits to FS HU which carried out strengthening the implementation of educational and research collaboration as well as increasing the scientific capacity of PSP study program lecturers. The activity was carried out from 11 – 17 November 2023 with a series of activities consisting of joint curriculum preparation, research fellowship and finally a discussion of young lecturers’ doctoral further study plans.
Dr. Eng. Abu Bakar Sambah as Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni and Student Entrepreneurship at FPIK UB, who also attended the activity, said that the collaboration between FPIK UB and FS HU is expected to be able to contribute to the internationalization of the institution.
Furthermore, with the implementation of this program, FPIK UB can improve the quality of Higher Education graduates, increase the quality of lecturers, and the quality of curriculum and learning. (*/OKY/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
