Physics Learning for Students Community Service

A team from the Physics Department, FMIPA UB created a Community Service program to help high school students understand Physics. Lessons that are identical to difficult formulas and abstract concepts are considered less interesting to students. So, the team from UB created teaching aids to teach Physics more easily.

“Hopefully with these teaching aids, students can be more motivated to study Physics, especially those involving abstract concepts such as electricity, as a complement to virtual laboratories such as PHET Colorado which have been used in schools,” said team leader Sri Herwiningsih, Ph.D, Tuesday (30/7/2024) in front of class XII students of MA Muhammadiyah 1 Malang City.

The teaching aids were prepared by a team consisting of Drs. Hari Arief Dharmawan, Ph.D, Ir. D. J. Djoko H. Santjojo, Ph.D, Dr. Eng Masruroh and Dr. Istiroyah, in the form of teaching aids for electrical materials, named RemLab SP1. There are two types of RemLab SP1, namely RemLab SP1-V for measuring voltage and RemLab SP1-R for measuring resistance that can be arranged in series, parallel, or a combination of series and parallel.

This teaching aid was socialized and tested to students. A total of 24 students participated in this activity and were very enthusiastic about trying the teaching aids that had been made by the Physics Department’s community service team. Furthermore, the handover of the teaching aids was represented by Drs. Hari Arief Dharmawan, Ph.D from UB Physics Department’s Community Service Team and Mrs. Shoufie Nur Aini, S.Pd as a Physics Teacher at MA Muhammadiyah 1 Malang City. [team/sitirahma/ UB PR/ Trans.
