The Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) is a program to strengthen the capacity of students’ organization (Ormawa) which is implemented through the process of developing Ormawa by Higher Education Institutions which is realized in acts of service to village communities and community empowerment. Through the support of PPK Ormawa activities, it becomes a good momentum for student organizations to continue to improve and create work programs that are relevant and have a direct positive impact on society.
This activity, which focuses on going directly into the community, is an opportunity to socialize and get to know the village community more closely. PPK Ormawa BEM Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) 2024 which consists of 15 people with supervisor Dr. Fajar Ari Nugroho, S.Gz., M.Kes enthusiastically welcomed this activity by offering 12 work programs or executions that had been designed which would later be implemented in Duwet Krajan Village, Tumpang District, Malang Regency.
In 2024, Ormawa BEM FIKES UB will have the opportunity to implement the PKK Ormawa program in Duwet Krajan Village, Tumpang District, Malang Regency was the place where this activity was carried out. Through this PKK Ormawa activity, BEM FIKES UB designs various work programs according to the title raised and can be the basis for implementing several goals that have been made by BEM FIKES UB in this activity. There are 4 goals that serve as references in making this activity successful, including improving the welfare of village women through increasing understanding and skills, building patterns of thinking and a culture of health through learning activities in the form of education and practice, empowering village women through trainings, and building women school system through the cadre of the first batch of PERMATA schools as administrators in the following year.
It is hoped that several of the designed objectives can become a sustainable program based on the success indicators of PERMATA School program that were raised in this PKK Ormawa activity. Success indicators serve as guidelines for activities and become benchmarks for the success of activities. First, the creation of a health-based curriculum and two women’s school learning modules as evidenced by the creation of modules with the legality of IPR.
Second, the implementation of a women’s school with a division into two classes, namely, the Kartini class containing 20 teenagers got 10 meetings and the Fatmawati class containing 20 mothers got 11 meetings as evidenced by the formation of the first cadre of Permata school. Third, increasing understanding, attitudes and skills of adolescent girls and mothers regarding health care is measured through participants being able to practice the material taught. Fourth, the community has health life skills related to health, such as BSE examination (breast self-examination), first aid, cooking balanced nutritious food as proven by the assignments given. Fifth, the formation of PERMATA community and having a productive plan for the next two years. These five indicators of success will become benchmarks for achieving the objectives of PERMATA SCHOOL Program designed by Ormawa BEM FIKES UB 2024.
