Alvinda Putri Ruriana, S.IP becomes the youngest graduate at the XIV Period of Graduation Ceremony of Brawijaya University (UB), Sunday (10/03/2024). She graduated from the International Relations study program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UB at the age of 20, with a study period of 3 years and 2 months, and a GPA of 3.62.

Alhamdulillah, I am very happy. Graduating in three and a half years was one of my targets, and I am grateful that I was able to graduate in 3 years and 2 months,” she said.

Alvinda graduated quickly because she didn’t need to write a thesis which usually takes a long time, but instead took the journal publication route as a graduation requirement.

“I have been writing journal articles since in the 5th semester, and it was successfully published in the national accredited journal SINTA 2 in 7th semester. After that, I immediately submitted an equalization of my thesis, so I didn’t need to take part in the comprehensive trial and a series of regular thesis procedures,” said this girl from Kediri.

In her research, Alvinda raised the topic “Women’s Representation and Political Parties”. The choice of this theme was based on her interest in gender issues in the surrounding environment. For example, many women are prevented from getting an education because of conservative family values, cases of early marriage, and the vulnerability of children of migrant workers.

Meanwhile, according to her, political parties are a common route to becoming a decision maker through parties. And gender-related policy changes are usually influenced by these figures.

“The research started from a course assignment that I developed into research. The writing process took approximately one year, and was rejected by the first journal, finally my writing was accepted in the Indonesian Political Journal: Indonesian Political Science Review (IPSR) Unnes. This journal article then became bridge to my graduation,” she explained.

During college, Alvinda was active as a teaching assistant on research and community service projects, as well as several off-campus research. She is also part of the research activity unit at the faculty.

Alvinda admitted that she was happy because the lecturers were open to involving students in research and other development programs, so that she grew and learned from the guidance of these teachers. This experience also strengthens scientific practice in real activities.

Becoming a graduate at a young age was also influenced by Alvinda’s study period at MAN 1 Kediri City where she took part in an accelerated program (2 years).

Currently Alvinda is working in a research and construction company. She is also still active in researching women, gender and politics at the Veritas Institute of Politics. “I want to continue my academic career by becoming a researcher and research consultant,” she concluded.
