Banyuwangi Regency Government Warmly Welcomes the KKN Students from Four Colleges

In order to implement the Real Work Lecture (KKN) and community service program, Universitas Brawijaya (UB) with the 2024 Students Build Village (MMD) Program, similar to previous year, also sent students to several villages in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java.

As one of the largest districts in East Java, Banyuwangi is one of the destinations for universities in East Java in particular, to be used as a place to carry out KKN activities.

There are four universities that in 2024 will implement KKN in Banyuwangi Regency. Besides Universitas  Brawijaya, there are three universities that also carry out KKN in Banyuwangi Regency, namely Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta, Airlangga University Surabaya, and IAI Ibrahimy Genteng Banyuwangi. Universitas Brawijaya is spread across 3 sub-districts in Banyuwangi district, namely Kabat, Wongsorejo and Kalipuro sub-districts.

In connection with this activity, Banyuwangi Regency Government on Tuesday (2/7/2024) welcomed students who participating in the 2024 KKN, which was held at Banyuwangi Regency Hall.

Present at this activity represented the Regent of Banyuwangi, Head of Banyuwangi Communications and Information Service Budi Santoso, Chair of UB MMD Group Zulfaidah Penata Gama, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., Chair of Unair KKN group Prof. Dr. Dr. Soetoyo, Sp.U (K), Chair of the UGM KKN group, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Harno Dwi Pranowo, MS., and Dr. Luchman Hakim, S.Ag., M.HI from IAI Ibrahim Genteng Banyuwangi.

When meeting with the head of the Banyuwangi Communication and Information service, Zulfaidah Penata Gama, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., representing the Director of the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM), Prof. Luchman Hakim, S.Sc., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., expressed her pride and gratitude for the acceptance and support of Banyuwangi Regency government for MMD UB students.

“I, as a supervisor from Universitas Brawijaga, feel very honored to be present here on this valuable opportunity. Thank you for the invitation that has been given to us to take part in this MMD student reception event in Banyuwangi,” said Zulfaidah.

It was also conveyed that KKN or MMD is an important moment in higher education that brings together students and the community in order to make a real contribution.

With the theme “Creative Students, Empowered Villages”. MMD students are not only tasked with completing academic programs, but also as agents of change who bring positive value to the local community.

“In this case, I am sure that students from Universitas Brawijaya who will undergo MMD in Banyuwangi will be able to make a meaningful contribution. They not only bring the knowledge they learned in campus, but also the enthusiasm to learn from and with the people of Banyuwangi,” she explained.

Zulfaidah hopes that through various activities such as counseling, local economic development, empowerment of women and children, as well as various other programs, UB students can have a sustainable positive impact to Banyuwangi people.

“We believe that with a spirit of mutual cooperation and good collaboration between students, supervisors and local governments, we can achieve common goals for progress and mutual prosperity,” she concluded. (UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
