The Independent Learning, Independent Campus Team of Universitas Brawijaya (MBKM UB) held a briefing for 25 participants of Campus Teaching or Kampus Mengajar (KM) Like which is an adaptation program from the DIKTI flagship. The briefing was held on the 8th Floor of the UB Rectorate Building, Monday (7/29/2024).
“This year, UB initiated the MKBM Independent Campus Teaching Like program which offers the same benefits as the DIKTI flagship,” said the Coordinator of the Campus Teaching Like UB Program, Nudya Kuntum Khoirel Abidah, S.Pd., M.Pd.
Nudya added that KM Like has the same goal, namely to socialize the campus teaching and improve literacy, numeracy, and technology adaptation in schools around UB.
“This is a form of our concern for the community. The first batch of KM Like placements were elementary and junior high schools with the criteria of having low scores in the Class Assessment field in literacy and numeracy,” she said.
The LIKE teaching campus program at Universitas Brawijaya is an adaptation program from the Ministry of Education and Culture’s campus teaching. Different from the Ministry of Education and Culture’s campus teaching, the LIKE campus teaching is more targeted at elementary schools (SD) to junior high schools (SMP) around Universitas Brawijaya with the criteria of schools with the lowest AKM as explained by Nudya Kuntum Khoirel Abidah S.Pd., M.Pd. coordinator of the LIKE Campus Teaching.
“LIKE UB Campus Teaching is aimed at students who are assigned to schools around UB. So the schools that are assigned are schools number 1 and 2 from the bottom in literacy and numeracy figures,” she explained.
In order not to clash with the Dikti campus teaching, the LIKE UB campus teaching will collaborate with the Education Office to map schools that need to be targeted and have not been touched by the Dikti campus teaching.
Elementary Schools (SD) and Junior High Schools (SMP) were chosen as the target of the campus teaching activities since basically at the elementary and junior high school levels, literacy and numeracy are still quite low. However, it was explained that it is possible that the LIKE Campus Teaching can then expand to high school or vocational schools.
“Basic literacy in elementary and junior high schools is still lacking and looking at the Dikti campus teaching, it does start from elementary school through junior high school and only in batch 7 there is a vocational school. For the beginning to see our students, we can go to elementary and junior high schools where literacy is low,” said Nudya Kuntum Khoirel Abidah S.Pd., M.Pd.
As of July 29-31, briefings have been carried out, continued with the KRS Merdeka programming and on August 10-19, the determination and initial observation of the targeted schools will be carried out. Nudya Kuntum Khoirel Abidah S.Pd., M.Pd. who is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Cultural Studies said that the assignment of the new LIKE teaching program will start on August 19 to December 11, 2024, which will run for 4 months.
“The assignment will start on August 19 to December 11, 2024. After that, there will be a report on the results of activities at the faculty level. Activities as a teaching assistant are carried out every day following the teaching and learning activities at school,”she said. (*/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
