The Brawijaya University Professor Council, Tuesday (19/12/2023), held the Launching of the Book of Professors’ Thoughts and Book Review of Oligarch Law at Samantha Krida. These books are the work of UB professors from various scientific fields who collaborate on one big theme.
“InshaAllah, we will launch books by professors at UB every Anniversary. “Meanwhile, in this Book Review, we are more selective, waiting for certain moments, the existence of parties for collaboration is taken into consideration,” said the Chief Executive, Prof. Sukir Maryanto S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. in front of journalists at a Press Conference on the sidelines of activities.
Books Launching of Professor’s Thoughts launched two books collected by professors. The first book is entitled “The Thought Work of UB Professors in the Field of Food Security, Healthy Nutrition and Health”. This book is a combination of writings by Prof. Dra. Fatchiyah M.Kes., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Ir. Nuhfil Hanani AR. M.S., Prof. Dr. Rudianto MA., Prof. Amin Setyo Laksono S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., Prof. Dian Handayani S.KM., M.Kes., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Ir. Qomariyatus Sholihah S.T., M.Kes., Prof.Dr.Ir. Hendrawan Soetanto, M.Rur.Sc.
“This book discusses food security from a socio-economic perspective, how the government is involved in food security, then also discusses Indonesia’s biodiversity. “Because actually we are very rich but we haven’t full explored,” said Fatchiyah as the first author of the book.
She gave an example like rice, we know it’s only white even though we have 20 to 30 colored rice which have high benefits. The various benefits of rice were conveyed by this lecturer from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and handed over to BP Padi Subang to be developed and distributed throughout Indonesia.
In the book also discusses animal food sources. Cows, goats and poultry are livestock choices that can be consumed.
“What is currently being explored from Java to Kalimantan is the etawa goat. It’s only that people think when they drink goat’s milk it smells, even though Etawa goat’s milk has no smell. and the cosmetics have been produced by Brawijaya (UB) too,” he said.
Meanwhile, the second book launched was “Realizing Halal Product Guarantees in Indonesia”. This book is a combination of writings by Prof. Ir. Sukoso, M.Sc., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Loeki Enggar Fitri, dr., M.Kes., Prof. Armanu, SE., MSc. Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Ir. Qomariyatus Sholihahh, ST.M.Kes. IPU. ASEAN.Eng., Prof. Dr. apt. Sri Winarsih, Dra., M.Sc.
“This book inspires us, since after all this (halal certification) concerns our economy,” said Sukoso, lecturer at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences.
He is concerned that the existence of a law regarding halal certification for food products, medicines, vaccines, medical devices and others will become an obstacle for domestic products to not being able to be bought and sold in their own country. So the publication of this book is considered important to see the readiness in various fields to respond to this law.
“It could be that the product is halal, but people don’t know about the ingredients added to food, drink or medicine,” he added.
In addition, a book review was also held entitled “Characteristics and Legal Accountability of Oligarchs in Environmental and Natural Resources Governance.”. Present as the speaker, namely the first author Prof. Dr. Rachmad Safa’at, S.H., M.Si. and Prof. Dr. I. Nyoman. Nurjaya, S.H., M.S.
This book, presented by Rachmad as the first author, can become an interesting reference regarding the modus and methods of oligarchs in maintaining and accumulating their wealth through the exploitation of natural resources. [sitirahma/UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
